Falcon 3100 Helps Downtown Stillwater Manage Spring Flood
When the National Weather Service predicted major flooding along Minnesota’s rivers this spring, volunteers poured into the city of Stillwater to help. They worked around the clock filling thousands of sand bags to reinforce the banks of the St. Croix River near Stillwater’s downtown district. As the river approached its cresting point, local law enforcement also witnessed another phenomenon: an influx of ‘flood’ tourists who began to flow into the city as fast as the river rose.
One of the many public safety measures they took was to set up a Falcon 3100 surveillance trailer in a popular park situated above the St. Croix River’s edge. The Falcon’s compact size made it a good fit behind a barrier of sand bags while cameras on top of the 18’ mast provided an unobstructed view of the river’s level. Using the Falcon’s remote viewing capabilities, officers could also watch for curious visitors who might ignore the warning signs posted about not getting too close to the high water that many had come to see.
This is just one of the many examples we could give about how the Falcon mobile surveillance trailer has assisted law enforcement and emergency personnel. They tell us the Falcon’s smaller size is often exactly what they need for everyday use and for emergencies, too.
