The impact of the pandemic has caused shortfalls in many law enforcement and emergency response budgets. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) created the $350 billion Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Fund (CFRF) for eligible state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments. This fund provides substantial resources to help communities overcome public health challenges, address the economic fallout from the pandemic and lay the foundation for a strong recovery.
In addition, federal guidance was introduced this summer about using these funds to invest in technology and equipment that will allow law enforcement to more efficiently and effectively respond to the rise in gun violence resulting from the pandemic. Jurisdictions who lost revenue during the pandemic may use ARP state and local aid for public safety programs up to the level of their revenue losses.
Now is the time for agencies to formulate plans and apply for these critically needed funds. MPS offers a variety of solutions that can be rapidly deployed to help government agencies in their coronavirus response and mitigation efforts or public safety initiatives. Our full-sized and compact trailers, mounted camera systems, pedestals, towers and mobile guard shack are smart platforms which means they can support many kinds of devices and components, such as:
- Mass notification/PA System
- Cameras: PTZ, Fixed, IR, Thermal, LPR
- Digital message boards
- Bright LED lighting
- One or two-way audio systems
- Motion sensors
Because MPS technologies have been successfully deployed in many public safety programs, the acquisition of new equipment may qualify for CFRF funding. Although the eligibility guidelines are flexible and broad, we urge you to consult with legal or grant experts to confirm that any purchase will meet the criteria for allowable use of funds.
