Mobile Pro Systems was an exhibitor at the DisastersExpo 2024 conference which was held March 6 to 7 at the Miami Beach convention center. We were excited to introduce our mobile surveillance platforms to disaster and emergency response professionals looking for the latest solutions and technologies in disaster management.

Falcon 3100 Helps Downtown Stillwater Manage Spring Flood
When the National Weather Service predicted major flooding along Minnesota’s rivers this spring, volunteers poured into the city of Stillwater to help. They worked around the clock filling thousands of sand bags to reinforce the banks of the St. Croix River near Stillwater’s downtown district. As the river approached its cresting point, local law enforcement also witnessed another phenomenon: an influx of ‘flood’ tourists who began to flow into the city as fast as the river rose.
One of the many public safety measures they took was to set up a Falcon 3100 surveillance trailer in a popular park situated above the St. Croix River’s edge. The Falcon’s compact size made it a good fit behind a barrier of sand bags while cameras on top of the 18’ mast provided an unobstructed view of the river’s level. Using the Falcon’s remote viewing capabilities, officers could also watch for curious visitors who might ignore the warning signs posted about not getting too close to the high water that many had come to see.
This is just one of the many examples we could give about how the Falcon mobile surveillance trailer has assisted law enforcement and emergency personnel. They tell us the Falcon’s smaller size is often exactly what they need for everyday use and for emergencies, too. If you’d like to learn more or schedule a webinar to see the Falcon in action, call 952-324-5656 to speak to a solutions consultant.

Setting the Stage for Disaster Recovery Missions
Storm and wildfire seasons are getting longer and more devastating each year. Each event can leave thousands of people without water and electricity or displaced from severely damaged homes. Dealing with the widespread disruption of essential services requires extraordinary coordination among local, state and federal agencies.
One of the most successful ways to get people help quickly is the staging site—a location where equipment, materials and supplies are stocked and ready to be used in restoration and rebuilding efforts. In the case of hurricanes, advance notice allows staging areas to be set up beforehand so electrical crews are ready to be dispatched once the storm has passed. MPS mobile surveillance products can play an important role in securing these sites by supplying the portable technology needed by disaster recovery teams.
The MPS CheckPoint, shown above, is a mobile guard station which can be deployed at a staging site or laydown yard. Automated barrier arms on either side of the unit create instant traffic control for incoming and outgoing vehicles and equipment. The enclosure houses a comfortable workstation for guards with built-in electrical power for laptops, radios and charging stations. Cameras and lights mounted on an electric mast add 24/7 video monitoring and much needed area lighting at night. Unlike other guard shacks, the MPS CheckPoint is permanently mounted to a trailer base. If the staging site needs to relocate, it can be hitched to a pickup and easily towed wherever it needs to go.
Commander 3400 and Falcon 3100 camera trailers deployed at humanitarian aid distribution centers, shelters or field hospitals help agencies manage large numbers of people seeking safety and relief.
All these units are self-powered platforms designed to operate in remote locations where power may be extremely limited. They’re trailer mounted for rapid deployment and setup. Smart engineering allows many technologies to be integrated in one system including communications and networks.
Securing staging locations is vital to every disaster recovery mission. MPS mobile platforms with surveillance, lighting and communications capabilities are important tools any emergency response team can use. For more information, call 952-324-5656 today.

More Communities Face the Impact of Natural Disasters
When hurricane Ida recently swept into the northeast United States, communities there were not prepared for the torrential rain and tornadoes which caused deadly flooding and property damage. In a similar way, wildfires out West have been breaking out and burning through northern regions that are rarely exposed to “megafires.” These seasonal events are starting sooner, lasting longer and happening with greater frequency. The number of cities and towns that are threatened is increasing by the year.Raging fires and devastating floods displace residents and leave catastrophic damage in their wakes. While rescue and recovery are the first priorities of any emergency response team, the days and weeks following a natural disaster add tremendous challenges for law enforcement as local agencies have to prioritize many demands for their services.
When all hands are on deck managing multiple developing situations, smart platforms from Mobile Pro Systems integrate with communications networks to assist emergency teams in coordinating their response.
Camera surveillance allows command centers to monitor scenes and see what’s happening in real time.
Restoration and rebuilding efforts present their own security challenges as equipment and materials are vulnerable to theft on remote sites.
MPS offers a variety of innovative products for both public and private organizations who are tasked with putting the pieces back together following a disaster.
Our mobile platforms can be used to help secure entry or exit points, deter intruders from getting near valuable assets needed to repair and rebuild infrastructure, and provide security personnel access to live or recorded video of activity.
All units are easy to move as needed allowing contractors great flexibility in their deployment.

On the Front Line of Emergency Response
Every emergency has its own story to play out. While emergency response team focus on saving lives, securing a crime scene or containing a dangerous situation, all eyes and ears on the ground are assessing the events as they unfold.
There’s no way to script the extraordinary amount of communication and coordination that must take place to get a highly charged situation under control, but having a camera and communication system on site can be the silent partner that connects everyone.
That’s why camera trailers from Mobile Pro Systems have reliably served emergency response teams for years. They deploy rapidly, generate their own power, and provide live or recorded video to assist relief efforts. When local cellular networks are overloaded, separate networks can be established to coordinate vital communication among officials. The platform supports audio horns and digital sign boards to deliver instructions and messages to crowds. All of these options can be controlled and configured remotely–even from a command center miles away.

MPS Power Sentries Boost D.C. Preparedness
Power Sentry units in the testing phase at Mobile Pro Systems facility prior to delivery.
On an ordinary day, protecting the citizens of a city like Washington D.C. is no small feat. The regular influx of elected officials, high-profile foreign dignitaries, tourists and activists means the Metropolitan Police Department must be prepared for any event. And when incidents break out on federal properties and spill into D.C. streets, they’re called upon to provide backup and assistance for federal law enforcement agencies as well.
Video surveillance from Mobile Pro Systems has been an effective tool for D.C. agencies in the past, and earlier this year they turned to MPS again to obtain a number of Power Sentry mounted camera systems to deploy around the city. These custom units along with Commander 3400 camera trailers help D.C. officers monitor developing situations and provide key documentation of how events transpired. Recorded video is often used to help identify culprits engaged in criminal activity and supply strong evidence required for prosecution.
