New Off-Campus Safety Center Incorporates Mobile Surveillance
Earlier this fall, a new Off-Campus Safety Center opened its doors in Dinkytown, a vibrant neighborhood at the edge of the University of Minnesota campus. Part of a comprehensive public safety initiative, the center is a hub where students can gather to study, socialize, learn self-defense and seek legal services while having direct access to officers who staff the center Monday through Friday. In addition to being able to communicate with increased patrols in the area, officers in the center have remote access to UMPD’s mobile surveillance trailers deployed around the college town.
Video recordings of activity are extremely helpful to law enforcement when incidents occur. Recently, as an active night of Halloween parties and events were winding down, a fight broke out that ended in gunfire and injured three. Local reporters were quick to point out that recorded video from the camera trailers would be essential in pursuing the suspects and bringing them to justice.
The University of Minnesota and Minnesota police departments utilize a large number of Mobile Pro Systems surveillance trailers. Over the years, officers have come to trust the exceptional reliability and flexibility of our mobile surveillance platforms.
